Why red oak?
Flat cut or quarter cut
Flat-cut red oak shows the bold, arched “cathedral” grain most people picture as oak. Quarter-cut red oak has straighter grain with ray flakes, for a quieter, more formal look.
Takes stain evenly
Red oak’s open pores take stain evenly, so it looks good clear or in light to medium stains.
Hard and good value
Red oak rates about 1,290 on the Janka hardness scale and costs less than most hardwoods we offer.
It can be painted
Flat-cut red oak can also be painted. Its open grain shows through as a texture under the paint, which some people like; for a smooth painted door, choose paint-grade maple.
What customers say about red oak
Fran C. Verified buyer on Shaker Cabinet Door
The quality of the doors & drawers were excellent. The red oak was beautiful with no imperfections. The accuracy of the dimensions were well beyond what I would expect from a wood product. Everything was perfect.
Robert Verified buyer on Covington Cabinet Door
Very well made to the exact dimensions that I submitted, good quality red oak. Nice to be satisfied with an American made product.

I ordered 18 doors. They were so beautiful that I hated to stain them. The measurements were precisely what I ordered. They popped right onto my existing hidden hinges. These were well crafted, red oak doors, with solid, red oak wood panels. The total price was $300-$400 less than another competitive online company. The quality of the Big Box store product was no comparison.
Anonymous Verified buyer on Concord Cabinet Door
I ordered cabinet doors for 3 rooms. One in red oak, one set in rustic alder and one in white maple. My favorite was the rustic alder which was for the bedroom. I also loved the red oak for the kitchen. The white maple was nice to but hard to take a stain. Still the quality of the wood was great and the sizes were accurate. Everything was just like I hoped it would be. No complaints at all!
William Martello Verified buyer on Channing Cabinet Door
