Why maple?

Very hard

Hard maple rates about 1,450 on the Janka hardness scale, harder than red oak (about 1,290) and cherry (about 950). Doors and drawer fronts stand up to everyday knocks.

Two stain grades

Natural Hard Maple keeps some of the light brown heartwood and a few mineral streaks, for a warmer, more natural look. White Hard Maple is selected for the pale sapwood, so the color is even from door to door. Both are Select grade.

Light to medium stains, or clear

Maple’s grain is tight and even, so it suits light to medium stains and a clear topcoat best. For a dark finish, walnut is the better choice.

Paint grade

Paint Grade Maple pairs a maple frame with a smooth MDF center panel, which stays flat under paint. Order it primed, painted in one of our colors, or unfinished.

Maple questions

Can I order maple doors in any size?

Yes. Every maple door and drawer front is made to the width and height you enter, and the product page shows the price as you go. How to measure

What's the difference between Natural Hard Maple and White Hard Maple?

Natural Hard Maple allows some of the light brown heartwood and mineral streaks, for a warmer, more varied look, and costs less. White Hard Maple is selected for the pale sapwood, so the color is even and light. Both are Select grade.

Can maple cabinet doors be painted?

Yes. Choose Paint Grade Maple, which has an MDF center panel that stays smooth under paint. Order it primed for your own paint, or painted in one of our paint colors.

Does maple take a dark stain?

Maple is best with light to medium stain colors or a clear topcoat; its tight grain takes dark stain less evenly than open-grained woods. For a dark finish, look at walnut.

How long does it take?
