UNASSEMBLED BOXES REQUIRE SOME WOODWORKING SKILLS TO ASSEMBLE. THIS MAY INCLUDE FITTING DOVETAILS, GLUING, FILLING, AND SANDING. IF YOU ARE UNSURE, FACTORY ASSEMBLY IS A GREAT VALUE! Dovetails MUST be assembled as soon as you receive them. Changes in relative humidity will greatly affect the wood. Products ordered unassembled can not be returned for failed assembly.

I was really surprised that there did not appear to be any thought put into making sure that the Class A surface (the surface that is most often visible & touched) met a higher standard for visual appeal.

I ordered six drawer boxes. Of the six, five of them have cosmetically unappealing front panels. See attached photos. Only one has a clear maple front. the other five look dirty, as they have a strange black discoloration. I wouldn’t have minded so much if the sides or back were discolored, I wouldn’t see that. However, it was the front panels that had the discoloration. The back panels were actually nicer looking. Due to the box design, there’s no way to switch the back & front panels – the front is the front, and the back is the back. Couldn’t more care be used when selecting wood for the front, vs the sides & back of the boxes? Disappointing. Buyers should know that the beautiful clear maple box that is shown on the website is probably *not* what you will receive.

      Hi Melanie!

Thanks for the feedback and the great photos! It looks like you made a great upgrade to the cabinets! Sorry to hear you had a 1-star experience with the Maple drawer boxes.

This is a common characteristic of soft maple. Loved and desired by some and undesirable by others. 🙂 One board could be completely blonde and another has dark streaks. Obviously, getting a completely uniform front is possible in a couple ways. You can specify that for a 20% upcharge or the box could be made from Hard White Maple. The cost of this would be about 30-40% more as well.
